Unexpected Twist

I’m sorry we haven’t posted an update in a while.  It has been too long.  I have had every intention to post something, but sometimes life gets in the way.

We started this year with big plans to get healthy, to work on our finances, and to generally simplify our life.  We are continuing to work on these things, but life threw us an un-expectant twist last month.  Cancer entered our lives and Carrie had to have a surgery.  The surgery went well and she is recovering at home.  We don’t know what next steps are next; maybe nothing, but we are planning for further treatments.  So we have slowed things down while we process this news and figure things out.

No one wants to hear the word cancer in any sentence with a loved one.  It is definitely bad news.  It can also be a good reminder to live your life in a meaningful way.  It has reminded us that we should always be thoughtful about how we spend our days and what things we put energy into.  Are we working on the things that matter to us?  Does it add value to our life?

We all have a finite number of days in this life.  Are you spending it well?
