Picking Back Up

My mother in law went back home this past weekend. She was here for just over 8 weeks and was a huge help during that time. I know she missed being in her space and Carrie is getting a little better each day. So it was time for her to head home.

I’ve been taking stock of where we are this week and I’ve come to a simple conclusion. This place is a wreck! Wow. The clutter has gotten out of hand. I have some serious purging to do. I have at least two unfinished home improvement projects; one of which is replacing the front steps. Be careful if you come over to my house. There is a four-foot drop from the street and my house. You might hurt yourself. And to top it off our air conditioner broke this past weekend. And it turns out it will require some construction work to replace the furnace that’s in the attic that won’t fit through the access hole in the ceiling. Who ever thought it was a good idea to build a house this way?

But this is all wonderful news. Chemo is done, Carrie is getting stronger. We have the rest of our lives to fix the air, rebuild the steps, and clean the house.  Its’s just stuff after all.

And then we are taking a vacation.

Hang in there, Brian. So glad Carrie is getting stronger, and hope it all gets easier for both of you now. And yes, you’re right that nothing about the house is nearly as important as you both getting through this. Many hugs and warm thoughts to both of you.

So glad to hear chemo is done. Please give Carrie a hug from me (and give yourself one too!). I think of you both every day. 😘😘😘
