Phone Update

I just finished my first month on Republic Wireless.  If you recall I switched from AT&T to save money on what I spend on cell phone service.  Well, here is my first month’s report.  I used .8 gigs of cell data in this first month.  That gave me a refund of $18.34.  That means for my first month my cell phone bill was $24.53.  Carrie’s bill (still on AT&T) was $115.00, which means our total bill for this first month was $139.53.  That’s a savings of $60 for the month.  That’s pretty good.

I’ve also been happy with the handset and the service overall.  There have been a few cases where the call didn’t switch over as nicely as I would have liked, but it only happened a few times.  It was fine.  One thing that I’m surprised about is how much I like Android.  This phone is close to a pure Google experience.  In other words, it doesn’t have all the crap that some handset and cell phone carriers put on your phone.  It’s really nice.  And the way that Google uses the notification system with the integration of their apps is very nice.  It’s what’s Siri is suppose to be, but never quite delivers on.

I’ll post another update in a month or two to see if I continue to be happy with the service.  But so far it’s right on the money.
