Creativity

Today is an bonus studio day for me! I have enjoyed a nice long weekend planning and working on new projects.

I’ve been working through a creative block and thinking about my future as an artist. 2014 was a good year for me. I participated in many group and solo shows around town. Then suddenly the momentum stopped. Having almost a year away front the studio was extremely difficult. So I now that I’m back I have spent much of my time sorting, cleaning and purging my stuff. To be honest I wasn’t sure if I could continue making art.  I didn’t know where to start or what to do.

Since I work best under a deadline, I asked my good friends at Turnip Green Creative Reuse if I could show in their Gallery. I am very excited about my upcoming show in March – but seriously stressed out! I needed to come up with a plan and fast.

Well, I have part of a plan. I’m hoping to create all new works for this show but have a few older pieces if I need to fill in. I still feel stuck but I’m feeling better about the direction things are going. I still have many questions to answer for myself. Do I want to continue with the same media and processes? I really don’t know. But for now I’m going to keep pushing myself to be here in the studio and just try new things. We will see where this takes me.
